New data shows 60% of U.S. adults are vaccinated against COVID-19.
The figures come with less than two months to President Biden’s goal for 70% of adults to be vaccinated by July 4. In addition, the number of new COVID-19 cases has dropped to 31,200 on a seven-day average, CNBC reported. In April, the new case daily count averaged more than 71,000.
Among those who have received vaccines, about 48% of the population has received one dose, while 38% are fully vaccinated. Nearly 2 million vaccines are being distributed daily over the past week. That’s down from a peak of vaccine distribution during April. However, the U.S. is still reporting 614 COVID-19 deaths per day, and more than 587,000 deaths have occurred.
In addition, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has opened up vaccinations to children ages 12 to 15. More than 600,000 children have been vaccinated as of May 18.
