Advocate Health––the newly combined entity of Advocate Aurora Health and Atrium Health––has named its new leadership team.
The two healthcare systems finalized their merger at the beginning of December. The deal brought together Advocate Aurora Health, one of the 12 largest not-for-profit, integrated health systems in the U.S. and a major employer in the Midwest, with 75,000 team members, with Atrium Health, an integrated, nonprofit health system with more than 70,000 teammates, 40 hospitals and 500 care sites.
“Our executive leadership team will chart the course for our journey to reimagine health and well-being, advance health equity and improve the lives of individuals, communities and teammates,” Jim Skogsbergh, who serves as CEO along with Eugene A. Woods as CEO until his retirement in 18 months, said in a statement.
Advocate Health is now the fifth largest nonprofit health system in the United States, serving nearly six million patients in Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina and Wisconsin. The health system operates more than 1,000 sites of care and 67 hospitals and employs nearly 150,000.
