The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has selected SnapMD as its provider of telehealth technology.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of children in America is expected to reach 74.1 million by 2020, outpacing the number of pediatric medical and surgical specialists. To meet the need of the growing number of patients, healthcare organizations are looking to telehealth to improve care, cut costs and increase access to care. The partnership will bring SnapMD’s Virtual Care Management (VCM) telehealth platform to the AAP Member Advantage Program, which includes more than 66,000 pediatricians and specialists.
"This new Member Advantage Program directly addresses concerns cited by our members regarding a lack of information about quality telemedicine vendors and the high cost of telemedicine equipment. We hope that this program benefit will encourage more pediatricians to provide telehealth services to the families they serve within the context of their medical home,” said Joshua J. Alexander, MD, chair of the AAP section on telehealth.
Providers using SnapMD’s VCM will be provided with a comprehensive telehealth solution that includes a digital exam room to engage, diagnose and treat patients. The convenience of the VCM system allows providers to deliver efficient care to pediatric patients where and when they need it.
