Digital health is having a moment as a healthcare subsector, reaping in billions in funding over the last several years, but its broad definition is bringing some confusion to its cause, according to a CNBC report.
The lack of a clear definition was especially apparent during the J.P. Morgan Healthcare conference in San Francisco, where digital health was “so overused and over-hyped, it’s no longer clear what it means,” CNBC reported. And digital health providers vary widely in what they offer, in terms of solutions and quality.
From clinical solutions to wellness apps and tools, digital health is being broadly defined as the intersection of health and technology. That big definition lumps in too many products, and doctors may need a more finely curated list of available solutions to recommend to patients.
