Cerner Corporation, one of the nation’s largest electronic health records platforms, has partnered with Uber Health to improve non-emergency transportation that can be included in the patient record.
Uber launched its Health platform in 2018, offering non-emergency transportation and partnering with healthcare organizations to reduce missed appointments and lower healthcare costs. Through the agreement with Uber Health, providers can license the transportation offerings and add them to the Cerner EHR. The partnership underscores the rising solutions to address social determinants of health
"Joining forces with Cerner marks a new chapter for Uber Health and our mission to provide accessible, efficient transportation for patients and caregivers," Dan Trigub, head of Uber Health, said in a statement. "Reliable transportation to and from appointments can help reduce operating costs, patient no-show rates and help improve patient outcomes.”
Healthcare providers will be able to book transportation for patients directly from the Cerner EHR. The Cerner platform will auto-populate the information needed by Uber, such as the patient’s name, number and address, to request a ride.
