Omega Medical Imaging’s FluoroShield gained FDA clearance this month, becoming the first AI-enabled radiation reduction technology to hit the market.
According to Omega, the FluoroShield—a region of interest radiation exposure reduction solution for interventional X-ray imaging—is powered by a combination of AI, an ultrafast collimator and advanced image processing. In testing, it’s reduced radiation by as much as 84%.
The approach minimizes radiation doses to both patients and nearby staff, and Omega’s site states it “seamlessly helps you reach your ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) goals.”
Right now, FluoroShield is only compatible with Omega’s Flat Panel detector CS-series product lines.
