Forbes has announced its annual 30 Under 30 list, highlighting leaders across industries. Within the healthcare space, the list features leaders working to expand access to care and to treat and cure disease.
Several on the list are focused on women’s health, such as shortening cycles for in vitro civilization (IVF), developing rapid diagnostics for gynecological exams, as well as a company aiming to develop new treatments for breast and ovarian cancer. Other focuses include immunotherapies that target tumors, improving equitable access to healthcare and addressing social determinants of health in conjunction with health insurance companies.
The Forbes 30 Under 30 list was selected by a series of judges, including Victor Lopez-Carmen, a medical student at Harvard who cofounded the Ohiyesa Premedical Program at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, which supports Indigenous students to pursue healthcare education; Michelle Davey, cofounder and CEO of digital health company Wheel; Hement Taneja, managing partner at General Catalyst; and Helen Sabzevari, president and CEO of Precigen, a biopharmaceutical company developing immunotherapies for diseases, including cancer and diabetes.
Here are some of the featured entrepreneurs in the 30 under 30 healthcare feature:
- Dina Radenkovic, cofounder of Gameto, a women’s health startup that has raised $40 million and aims to make egg harvesting cheaper and safer by using human stem cells to mature ova in a lab
- Amira Barkal, principal founder of Pheast Therapeutics, a cancer immunotherapy company that uses activated immune cells to kill cancer.
- Aadil Ali, clinical scientist at biomedical device company Traferox Technologies. Ali’s research led to development of a novel organ transplantation device at by Traferox
- Alison Burklund, cofounder of Nanopath, which creates diagnostics that test pelvic and gynecologic infections during a single visit
- Jared Dauman, cofounder of Soda Health, which has raised $36 million in funding and works with member plans to provide benefits like bus fare or debit cards that can be used on eligible items under their benefit plans
