Sutter Health hires new chief digital officer
Laura Wilt has been named senior vice president, chief digital officer at Sutter Health, the company announced in March. In her new role, Wilt will oversee the digital strategy, from information services to design and innovation to data analytics.
Sutter Health is a not-for-profit integrated health system based in Sacramento, California, with 24 acute care hospitals and more than 200 clinics in Northern California.
Wilt joins Sutter Health after serving for 10 years at Ochsner Health, where she most recently held the role of system vice president, chief information officer. During her time at Ochsner, she worked with innovation teams to develop and support new care delivery solutions, digital tools and build patient management capabilities, including virtual nursing units and patient engagement apps.
Prior to Ochsner, Wilt served as president of Intellistar Consulting and also advised health systems across the country as part of Epic Systems’ implementation services team.
SCA Health announces two key leadership changes
Caitlin Zulla has been named CEO of the East Region of Optum Health, SCA Health announced. Zulla has served as CEO of SCA Health, which is owned by UnitedHealth Group subsidiary Optum, since December 2019.
She originally joined SCA Health in 2015 to lead revenue cycle operations before advancing to CFO and chief administrative officer prior to becoming CEO. In her new role as CEO of the East Region of Optum Health, she will oversee healthcare delivery services by Optum Health in the northeastern quadrant of the U.S., including primary, specialty, surgical, home-based, virtual, urgent, behavioral and community care.
Replacing Zulla is Jason Strauss, who was named the next CEO of SCA Health. Strauss has been with SCA Health for 15 years, most recently serving as president of the organization, focused on surgical center operations and developing business lines. He previously served as chief operating officer, as a group president leading surgical centers and growth in multiple states, and in finance.
Tegria appoints CMO
Healthcare consulting and technology services company Tegria has named Raymond A. Gensinger, Jr., MD, as its new senior vice president and chief medical officer.
Gensinger is a former chief information officer and healthcare data analytics expert, most recently serving as CIO for Hospital Sisters Health System, an integrated delivery network across Illinois and Wisconsin with an operating budget of $130 million and a team of 450 colleagues.
He previously served as CMO of Fairview Health Services and at Hennepin County Medical Center. Gensinger is a licensed general internist and has held faculty appointments at the University of Minnesota’s School of Nursing and Institute for Health Informatics, according to a press release. He also authored and edited “Analytics in Healthcare: An Introduction,” which was named HIMSS Book of the Year in 2014.
