Paige.AI, a startup that uses AI to diagnose and treat cancer, announced the appointment of Leo Grady, PhD, as its new CEO and a member of its board of directors. Paige.AI, which has raised $25 million in funding, was recently named a top startup in CB Insight’s third annual AI 100 list.
“The Board is thrilled to welcome Leo to the Paige.AI team as our new CEO,” Jim Breyer, a lead Paige.AI investor and CEO of Breyer Capital, said in a prepared statement. “Leo is an accomplished healthcare technology executive who has successfully led the development and commercialization of transformative technologies rooted in medical imaging and machine learning.”
Grady brings with him more than 15 years of experience in machine learning and medical imaging technologies. He previously served as the senior vice president of engineering for California-based software engineering company HeartFlow, which uses deep learning methods to diagnose and treat cardiac disease.

The New York City-based company is currently in the process of digitizing 5 million pathology slides from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s (MSK) database to build a full suite of AI-based technologies in an effort to “serve the needs of diagnostic radiologists around the world.”

Grady received his doctorate in cognitive and neural systems from Boston University and his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Vermont.
