Sony Electronics has received FDA clearance for its NUCLeUS Operating Room, Imaging Management and Collaboration Control platform.
The smart operating room (OR) platform can now be sold and marketed in the United States. It has already gained popularity in other parts of the world, racking up more than 500 installations at hospitals throughout Europe.
NUCLeUS was designed to help healthcare providers capture video audio content, using it for collaborations with other providers, teaching or research. It also helps users manage medical imaging findings and other patient data while complying with all necessary safety and security guidelines.
“We are eager to put NUCLeUS in the hands of doctors, nurses and OR managers in the U.S. so they can experience first-hand how the platform can dramatically improve surgical collaboration and potentially contribute to better patient outcomes,” Theresa Alesso, president of the pro division at Sony Electronics, said in a prepared statement. “With the ongoing development of unique ‘smart applications,’ NUCLeUS will continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in the OR.”
