Time Magazine released its 50 most influential in healthcare for 2018 list, recognizing those in the sector that are leaders in public health, treatment, cost and technology initiatives.
Some notable leaders on the list include the new president of Planned Parenthood, Leana Wen, MD, MSc, who was formerly the health commissioner of Baltimore and led the city’s public health plan to tackle overdose deaths due to opioids. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) made the list for her recent breastfeeding legislation that would require all medium and large airports to offer a lactation room for mothers.
Bill and Melina Gates and David Sinclair are other famous names to make the list.
Joshua Kushner, younger brother to President Trump aid Jared Kushner, and Mario Schlosser also were recognized for their health insurance startup company Oscar, which has garnered hundreds of millions in funding from Google parent company Alphabet.
The Time list is assembled by a team of health editors and reporters who nominate leaders in healthcare who are then evaluated based on originality, impact and quality.
