VillageMD, a value-based care primary services provider, is expanding access to care through a partnership with Point32Health to offer services in Massachusetts.
Point32Health is a health and wellbeing organization and is the parent company of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan. The partnership expands access to VillageMD’s care services to Harvard Pilgrim Health Care members in Massachusetts. VillageMD is owned by Walgreens and operates as its primary care center subsidiary. Through its subsidiary Village Medical, VillageMD partners with physicians to provide the tools, technology, operations, staffing support and industry relationships to deliver clinical care. The company operates in 22 markets and is responsible for more than 1.6 million patients.

The partnership comes just weeks after VillageMD announced it will acquire Summit Health in a deal valued at $9 billion. Summit Health is a large medical group with more than 340 practice locations, offering primary, specialty and urgent care. Walgreens also made another big acquisition move this year, purchasing the remaining ownership shares of CareCentrix for $392 million.
Village Medical’s primary care services focus on disease prevention, chronic condition management, and healthy lifestyles. Harvard Pilgrim Health Care members will also have access to Village Medical 24/7 via telehealth and at-home visits.

"With VillageMD's value-based care model, we want our patients to see us at the right frequency to manage their health and have better health outcomes."
Village Medical is also committed to opening more than 50% of its practice locations in medically underserved areas. In addition, the two companies are aiming to expand their partnership across Point32Health’s other lines of business.
