Roger Larsen has been selected as the new CFO for Albuquerque, New Mexico-based Presbyterian Health Services, ending a five-month search for a replacement for Dale Maxwell, now the system’s president and CEO.
Larsen has spent the last five years of his career with Sutter Health in northern California, holding titles includes CFO for its Bay Area Foundation and interim CEO for Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation. Prior to his tenure at Sutter, he spent 13 years as CFO at San Diego’s Sharp Rees Stealy Medical Group.
“We are pleased to have someone with Roger’s depth of health care experience serving as our new chief financial officer,” Maxwell said in a statement. “The expertise he brings to New Mexico will further strengthen our leadership team as we address the needs of our communities while ensuring financial sustainability.”
Larsen holds a master of science degree in accounting and a bachelor of science degree in international business, both earned at California State University, Sacramento.
PHS includes eight hospitals, an 800-provider medical group, a 460,000-member health plan and 12,000 employees overall, making it New Mexico’s largest private employer. It also has a stellar reputation for financial management, being a repeat winner of the MAP Award for High Performance in Revenue Cycle by the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
